Our Virtual Fracture Clinic offers appointments to all patients who have a broken bone (fracture) in the days following their injury.
Opening times
The Virtual Fracture Clinic runs from 8.15am to 5pm.
The Plaster Room and Appliances is open from 8.30am to 4pm.
Virtual appointments means patients who are in pain don't have to attend an assessment in hospital.
Your X-ray(s) and any documentation from the Emergency Department will be reviewed. The skills of the Emergency Department (ED) staff are used to provide treatment and information to the simplest injuries without referral to the orthopaedic department. All other injuries are reviewed within a target of 72 hours by an orthopaedic consultant.
You will be contacted by a specially trained nurse following the review to discuss if any further treatment is required. For patients requiring appointments, a text message with you appointment details will be sent to you.
You will be reviewed with an appropriate consultant for your injury, within a time frame appropriate to your injury.
Calls and text messages are typically made between the hours of 10am and 6pm, but please be aware that during busy periods calls or texts may be made outside of this timeframe. Contact will be made to the number you have provided to us via Emergency Department. These will typically come through from an unlisted number.
If we are unable to speak to you a message will be left (if possible) advising you that we have called. You can either call us back or alternatively wait for a clinical letter to come through the post.
We are located in the Fracture Clinic on C Level at Queen Alexandra Hospital, near to Lift area 1.
