Our Tissue Viability team provides specialist advice on wound care management and pressure ulcer prevention.
Pressure ulcers (also known as bed sores) is skin damage that happens when the blood supply to your skin is affected. This can be on broken or unbroken skin.
They most commonly occur when body weight or devices cause pressures on vulnerable areas of skin.
Patients are more at risk of getting a pressure ulcer if they have reduced mobility or wearing a device such as a plaster cast.
