At Portsmouth Surgery School our mission is to empower you to make changes that are proven to increase your chance of getting a great outcome from your upcoming surgery.
Even if you can't make all the changes we discuss - every change you do make will make a real difference!
Being more active, eating well and not smoking can make a huge difference to how quickly you recover from surgery and how likely you are to get a complication. Complications can include:
- Chest infections
- Blood clots
- Kidney problems
- Delirium/confusion
- Slow wound healing
Pre-operative assessment
One of the first stages in getting you ready for your surgery is your pre-operative assessment. The video below describes this process.
