Learning and Development (L&D) is a function within Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust that is responsible for empowering employees’ growth and developing their knowledge, skills, and capabilities to drive better business performance and enhance patients’ safety and experience.
Learning and Development encompasses any professional development our hospital provides to its employees. This includes onboarding and recruitment such as induction programmes, career development, ongoing training, continuous professional development, leadership and management development programs, skills training, and required courses such as compliance training for all essential skills. These are all initiatives our Learning and Development team or department provide.
The courses we run are not just taught and provided by our practice educator team but also external facilitators and speakers which helps broaden the scope of what we are able to deliver from perspectives outside our trust.
PHU staff can find out more about the developing opportunities available to them by searching 'Learning and Development' on our staff intranet.
For the main education centre, we are based up on E Level by using either lift area one or two.
For the Quad Centre, this is an external building located to the south of the main hospital, next to Gloucester House.
