Family Liaison Service

Our Family Liaison Officers (FLOs) are available to help connect patients with their loved ones where visiting in person is not possible. They do this using Zoom or FaceTime digital technology, or via more traditional telephone calls if that suits better.

They are also available to provide comfort and wellbeing company for patients including games, activities and reading material along with a small range of toiletry items where needed. 

Additionally, the team can support patients to virtually attend life events such as birthdays, weddings, funerals, and anniversaries to help provide those connections where being there in person on the day isn’t possible.

The FLOs can be contacted through their mailbox - FLOinbox@porthosp.nhs.uk or ward staff can raise a referral at your request.

The service runs Monday-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) during daytime hours and is part of the wider patient experience team.   

The Family Liaison Service is based on a foundation of ensuring safe, high quality and patient focused care for both the patients and their loved ones, providing a service to the local community and beyond.
