There are a few different places at PHU where you can buy food, drinks, toiletries and more for yourself visiting, or patients who are staying with us.
Along with the existing shops and facilities, we are also extending our main entrance to include a new lecture theatre and retail space. This new entrance including M&S Food and The Stock Shop will open on Wednesday 29 May 2024.

Just inside the main entrance of the hospital, on Level A is the 'Amigo' newsagents, selling daily papers, magazines, sweets, crisps, snacks, cards and other items useful for both visiting or staying in hospital. The shop is open seven days a week with the following opening hours:
Monday to Friday 6.30am to 9.30pm, Saturday 7am to 8pm, Sunday 8am - 7.30pm
On Level B, the restaurant serves a range of hot food, snacks, drinks and confectionery at competitive prices. The restaurant is open 7 days a week from 7.30am until 7pm and offers the following menus:
- Breakfast 7.30am to 11.15am
- Lunch 11.45am to 1.45pm
- Snack Bar 1.45pm to 4.30pm
- Evening menu 5pm to 7pm
On Level A, next to Amigo, you can find Costa Coffee selling a range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, paninis and snacks to eat in or take away. Costa Coffee is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
On Level B of the hospital, the 'League of Friends' charity run a coffee shop selling teas and a limited range of light snacks. The coffee shop is open from:
Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm
Please be aware that the shop will only be accepting cash payments.
Our pharmacy for outpatients, run and managed by Lloyds Pharmacy, is located near North Entrance, includes a retail outlet for patients, visitors and colleagues.
The opening times are:
- Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 5pm
- Saturday to Sunday: 9am to 4pm
M&S Food can be found inside the new main entrance at Queen Alexandra Hospital and is known for its Grab and Go range of chilled food as well as the best-selling Eat Well range.
Included within the QA Hospital store is:
- In-store bakery
- Hot food
- M&S coffee to go
- Core food range
- Soft drinks including fresh juice
- Milk and dairy products
- Deli range
- Food for later (heat to eat)
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Savoury snacks
- Sweets and chocolates
- Cards and gifts
Click and Collect will also be available for NHS staff. Not all items are available for click and collect, so please check before ordering.

- Sunday: 7am to 8pm
- Bank Holidays: 9am to 5pm
On Level C, next to the North Entrance, the Portsmouth Hospitals Charity Shop sells bric-a-brac, toys, baby clothes, blankets, jams, cakes and puzzles all to raise money for state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and research within the hospital's wards and departments.
The opening times are:
Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4.30pm
The shop is not open at the weekend.

Located within the new main entrance at Queen Alexandra Hospital, The Stock Shop offers ladies clothing including knitwear, tops, trousers, outerwear, dresses, skirts and nightwear.

- Monday: 8am to 5.30pm
- Tuesday: 9am to 5.30pm
- Wednesday: 9am to 5.30pm
- Thursday: 8am to 5.30pm
- Friday: 9am to 5.30pm
- Saturday: 11am to 4pm
- Sunday: Midday to 4pm
Adjacent to the Amigo shop on Level A is a cash point machine. This is a free cash withdrawal machine and accepts most major bankcards. The service is normally available 24hrs. There is also a free cash machine within the Amigo shop.
A further cash machine is located outside the Level B Restaurant.
