Accessibility Statement
Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This accessibility statement applies to www.
These websites are run by Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
- We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
- Most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software.
- There is a limit to how far you can magnify some of our floor maps, shown on department pages.
- Some of our older videos do not have captions. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix videos published before 23 September 2020.
We are actively working to address these issues as part of an ongoing programme to improve the accessibility of our sites.
Disproportionate burden
We believe that our approach to carrying out accessibility checks is reasonable but means that we will not do detailed accessibility checks on all our websites. This might mean accessibility issues on some websites are not fixed.
However, the accessibility regulations say that we do not need to make a website accessible if doing so would impose a disproportionate burden on us. We believe that carrying out more detailed checks and fixing documents, beyond what is set out above, would be a disproportionate burden.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared in September 2024.
When the site went live in March 2024, it was built and tested to the latest accessibility standard which is WCAG 2.1 A/AA.
This website’s accessibility will be reviewed on a regular basis with this statement updated to reflect any relevant changes.
