Staff from Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) and contractors involved in the project came together to mark the topping out of the new Emergency Department (ED) at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The department is due to open later this year, ahead of winter.

Important information
Our New Emergency Department is now open. Please note, the new Emergency Department is located just inside the East Gate (Curie Road). Remember, the Emergency Department is for people with life-threatening injuries and illnesses. If you need urgent medical advice and aren't sure where is the best place for your symptoms, please visit NHS 111 Online.
Please note, the North Entrance at Queen Alexandra Hospital is currently closed. An alternative walk-in entrance is available by the B-level Haematology and Oncology Unit, but patients are encouraged to enter the hospital via the Main Entrance (accessible 24 hours a day) and East Entrance (7.45am to 9pm).
