Important information
We are seeing high numbers of Norovirus across our hospital. Norovirus is very contagious, so it is really important that you do not visit loved ones in hospital until you have been free of symptoms for two days.
Norovirus is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It can be very unpleasant, but usually goes away in about two days. Symptoms come on very quickly and include feeling sick (nausea), diarrhoea and being sick (vomiting). You could also experience a high temperature, headache and aching arms and legs.
If you are unwell, you can use our virtual visiting services and speak to your friend or family member by video call rather than visiting in person. Our staff will be happy to help arrange a date and time for you through our Family Liaison Service via FLOinbox@porthosp.nhs.uk
Temporary closure of the North Entrance at QA Hospital
The North Entrance at QA Hospital is currently closed. An alternative walk-in entrance is available by the B-level Haematology and Oncology Unit, but patients are encouraged to enter the hospital via the Main Entrance (accessible 24 hours a day) and East Entrance (7.45am to 9pm).
